WCSGA Speed Of Play
General Guidelines
- For shotgun starts, all players must be on their starting tee and ready to start at scheduled time
- All players must finish in under 4 hours 30 minutes, average of under 15 minutes per hole
- For shotgun starts with two groups starting on a tee, the A group need to finish in under 4 hours 15 minutes to allow the B group to complete on time
- Cart pace indicators will be displayed on cart monitors and show yellow/red if falling behind
- Course staff will be monitoring cart times and send messages (text and sound) to the group at the front of a bottleneck more than 10 minutes behind
- Course staff will send a marshal to warn the bottleneck group if falling more than 15 minutes behind
- If the group does not close the gap within 2 holes, the marshal will return and notify the group to skip a hole, with all players posting a max score (triple bogey)
- Additional actions will be taken for the league as a whole if we do not demonstrate our ability to consistently complete on time
Tips to Play Faster
- Gage your pace by time and position relative to the group ahead of you
- Play ready golf whenever possible, honors is irrelevant in the fairway and on the tee other than honoring birdies/eagles, it is your turn whenever you are ready and someone else isn't preparing to hit
- Be ready to hit your shot or putt when it is your turn
- Limit time spent on practice swings and setup routine, and start before it is your turn
- Read your putt while others are putting (or chipping)
- Do not mark "gimmee" putts, putt out unless you would be standing on someone's line near the hole
- When you finish a hole, proceed promptly to the next tee, scoring and club maintenance should be done at the tee
- When you arrive at the tee, be ready to tee off
- Pause conversations when it is time to prepare for a shot
- Do not spend excessive time looking for lost balls, you officially have 3 minutes per local rules but balls not found in a minute or two aren't likely found
- If you are falling behind, feel obligated to (politely) voice a concern with your playing partners
One slow player /group can create a problem for everyone, do your part to keep us on time and it will be more enjoyable for all!
