WCSGA Choose Your Tee

To provide all members with a tournament challenge appropriate to their level of skill the Association offers the option of playing from one of three tee boxes - White, Gold and Red. Established members can decide which tee to play from. New members (Callaway) must play from the White tees until they have established a handicap.

Once a handicap is established each member will be given one opportunity per calendar year to change tees. Members wishing to change tees must request the approval of the Vice President/Tournament Director.

Section 3.5 of the USGA Handicap System Manual provides guidance for tournaments where players compete from different tees. Based on these guidelines, handicaps are adjusted for the chosen tees specific to the Watters Creek course. You can view adjusted handicaps by looking at the Course Handicap using the Handicap Calculator within the GHIN application. The following are estimated adjustments.

  • Move from White to Gold tee, your handicap will reduce by 3 strokes
  • Move from the Gold to Red tee, your handicap will reduce by 3 strokes
  • Move from the White to Red tee, your handicap will reduce by 6 strokes

Member handicaps will continually be updated using all scores posted in GHIN regardless of the tees (or course) played.

For the Closest To the Pin and the Hole In One competitions, the White and Gold Tees will be placed at the same yardage on the par 3s. Those playing from the Red tees are not currently eligible to participate in the these competitions.
