WCSGA Tournament Overview

 

 

Schedule and Registration

Tournaments are played on most Thursdays throughout the year using a shotgun start format.

 

The week prior to each tournament an email invitation with a registration link is sent to each member from Golf Genius. The links in the invitation and confirmation emails can be used to set and change playing status during the open registration window. Open registration for a weekly tournament can also be accessed on the Home page of the current Season portal. Registration is open until Monday night at 11:59pm and must be completed online unless using course account credit. Late registrations up to tournament day may be accepted if there is space availability resulting from cancelations after registration closes, but can only be done by contacting the Association secretary.

 

Cost

The tournament cost is $39 ($34 for green fee + $5 for tournament). Payment for tournaments is made in person at the course the morning of the tournament. Winnings are paid in cash, which is available for pickup at the following tournament.

 

Cancelation and No-Show Policy

Round registration can be self-canceled using the email link or the portal Home page while the registration window is open. Registrations can only be canceled after the window closes by contacting the Association secretary. Registrations can be canceled without penalty until the tee sheet is set on Wednesday at 11:00am. No-Shows and Cancelations after the tee sheet is set will be tracked and any member reaching 3 occurrences in a season will be suspended from playing for one month, which would include the club championship if suspended during that week.

 

General Tournament Procedures and Management
Tournaments are managed jointly by Watters Creek staff and Association officers utilizing the USGA Tournament Management Golf Genius System. Golf Genius software is used to simplify tournament signup and to provide tee sheets (pairings) which can be viewed for each finalized round in the Season Schedule under Season Tournaments. Flighted Tournaments are flighted based on GHIN index and the total number of players, with the maximum number in each flight set at 25. New members without an established GHIN index will compete in a Callaway Tournament, using the Callaway 16 handicapping method.

Live scoring is used with scores entered using the golf cart electronic scoring. Pre-printed scorecards are also used and upon completion are to be turned in to Watters Creek officials who will validate against Golf Genius scores and update as necessary. The flight place winners and payout amounts are determined in Golf Genius and Results are displayed for each completed round in the Season Schedule under Tournament Tournaments.

 

 

Member Account Balance
Starting in May 2023, the tournament winnings will be paid in cash, like the side games.

 

Previously existing course account balances can still be used to purchase green fees and other course items. Account balances are available by contacting the pro shop, either in person or by phone.
